Carbon Capture & Storage Stream
It is generally accepted that the power generation sector will continue to rely on fossil fuels to provide reliable and affordable electricity over the short- to medium-term. And with ambitious climate change targets looming, the sector is eyeing Carbon Capture & Storage (CCS) as a solution to its predicament. CCS has the potential to prevent the release of substantial amounts of carbon emissions into the atmosphere by capturing CO2 produced from fossil-derived electricity and transporting it to permanent, underground storage. However, with only a handful of CCS demonstration projects operational worldwide, much more is required to realise this enormous opportunity on a commercial scale.
The Carbon Capture & Storage Centres of Technical Excellence (CoTEs) Stream will explore emerging lessons from current demonstration projects as well as highlight key innovation that paves the path to a sustainable future for this nascent carbon-mitigation industry.
Session details to be announced May 2012. To be informed when session details become available please register your interest.

This Stream is held in partnership with the Carbon Capture and Storage Association (CCSA). The CCSA exists to represent the interests of its members in promoting the business of capture and geological storage of carbon dioxide, whilst influencing policy developments in UK, Europe and internationally, in developing an appropriate regulatory framework for CCS. |
