Floating LNG Stream

Shell’s 2011 announcement to pursue the detailed design and construction of the world’s first Floating LNG (FLNG) plant has captured imaginations and sparked a flurry of activity within the sector. FLNG has been touted to have the capability of economically exploiting smaller and remoter reserves while reducing environmental impact, time, and costs associated with project development. Attracted to the game-changing promises of FLNG, the industry is producing innovative engineering solutions to overcome the hurdles of producing, liquefying, storing and transferring LNG solely in a marine environment.

The Floating LNG Centres of Technical Excellence (CoTEs) Stream will examine recent technological developments aimed at overcoming the unique design and safety challenges posed by operating an LNG plant at sea.

Session details to be announced May 2012. To be informed when session details become available please register your interest.

This Stream is held in partnership with the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST). Established in 1889, IMarEST is the leading international membership body and learned society for marine professionals, with over 15,000 members worldwide.
